Body piercings are a beautiful way we can express ourselves. We need to make sure that we take care of the piercing wounds as they heal.

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. CLEAN YOUR HANDS
  2. Make a fresh batch of Saline solution.
  3. Soke the Piercing in the solution for 2 minutes (Depending on where the piercing is placed, you can use a spray bottle to apply solution).
  4. Air dry or lightly dab around the piercing with dry cloth.

Repeat the cleaning instructions once – twice daily, to keep the piercing clean.

Saline Solution

One cup of boiled water (Distilled water is best) add ¼ of a teaspoon of salt (Himalayan pink salt is best). You can add a drop of either Lavender or Teatree oil to help the healing process. They have anti-inflammatory & anti-bacterial properties in the oil.

Please note that if you add to much salt to the saline solution, it can burn or irritate the wound.

BODY PEIRCING HEALING GUIDE

Please Keep in mind that this is just a guide and not exact on when your body will or will not be healed by. Everyone’s body is different; some people heal a lot faster than others.

Earlobe’s (This includes seconds, & Third piercings)

This piercing is only through soft tissue. Avoid changing the piercing until at least 6 weeks, and longer if you have any complications.

2-6 Weeks Healing time.

Helix / Tragus / Daith / Rook / Snug / Conch / Industrial

All of these body piercings are on the cartilage of the ear. This is a lot harder than a tissue piercing. Hence why they need a little extra care and take a lot longer to heal. Try and avoid sleeping directly on the piercing if you can help it. Be mindful of clothing getting caught on the ear too. Bumping a piercing will slow down the healing process.

3-6 Months Healing Time.

Lip Piercings

This piercing is through soft tissue. Avoid changing the piercing until past the six-week mark, and longer if you have any complications.

4-6 Weeks Healing time.

Tongue

This Piercing is through a muscle; it will swell. This is why we place a long bar in initially to allow for maximum amount of swelling. However, the tongue is one of the fastest healing things in our body. Although the swelling may be bad for a couple of days, it will heal fast if you clean it properly. The tongue will require a little more cleaning than any other piercing. If you eat food or smoke, make sure you are to rinse your mouth out with piercing solution straight afterwards to keep the piercing clean from any food or bad bacteria.

10 Days healing time.

BELLY/NAVEL

This piercing is in the middle of our bodies, and will occasionally be knocked from us bending. It is important to be aware of it and try not to move it around to often. Please avoid wearing tight clothing on top of the piercing as it will cause more irritation.

6 months healing time.

NIPPLE

This piercing is in a sensitive area of the body and tends to take a little while to heal due to it constantly being covered by clothing.

I advise that after cleaning the wound to let it dry completely and air it out as often as you can this will help the body heal the wound faster. Do not use any cream or balms on the piercing wound this will cause the piercing to become more susceptible to infections as it can have to much moisture in the wound. Avoid using luffas and lace bras as it can catch and pull the piercing.

6 months healing time.

NOSE & SEPTUM

Nose piercings are fairly fast to heal. Try to avoid things that can get caught to the piercing (towel / face cloth) and avoid touching it as much as possible. Do not apply make-up or creams on the fresh wound as this can cause bacteria build up and cause infection. If you find that a bump is starting to appear do not take the piercing out this can trap the keloid on the top of your skin. Give me a call and we can go over some options on how to get rid of a keloid. (they are very common)

2-6 weeks healing time.
